My stay was a mixed bag at this hotel. The rooms, right at the top of the building in the eaves of the roof, were basic but surprisingly warm during the scorching 2022 summer heatwave. The shared bathroom was a downside, and the dated entrance did not make a good first impression. The furniture and doors in the room definitely need some upgrading or at least a fresh coat of paint. The price was on the cheaper side, but there is room for improvement.

Rooms

The rooms were basic but surprisingly warm during the heatwave. However, the shared bathroom was a drawback, and the overall decor needs updating.
Service
8.0
Despite the warning about not being contactable after midnight, the staff were actually very nice and helpful. The booking process was smooth, and everyone was friendly and accommodating. The bar area was a pleasant spot to unwind.
Location
9.0
The location couldn't be more convenient for exploring Halifax, right across from the main shopping centers. It's ideal for easy access to the train station and other attractions in the area.
Dining
6.0
Unfortunately, with the loud music and lack of breakfast, dining at the hotel was not an option. However, heading across the road to Wetherspoon provided great value for meals.
Facilities
7.0
The facilities were adequate for a short stay, but improvements in the dining options would be beneficial.

The hotel may have basic facilities, yet it offers a clean and intimate stay at a budget-friendly rate. The landlady was polite, and the bathroom was modern and suitable for guests with mobility issues. It's a quaint property that values cleanliness and simplicity.

Rooms

The room I stayed in was clean and fairly comfortable. Although the facilities were basic, the room rate reflected this budget establishment's simplicity. The en suite facilities were convenient for my elderly mother with mobility problems.
Service
8.0
The staff were friendly and rushed to provide information like keys and directions, though it was a bit overwhelming to keep up with. They were helpful in recommending nearby dining options within a short walk.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location was ideal for accessing Halifax city centre and the train station, making it convenient for exploring further afield. It's centrally located, close to amenities like Sainsbury's, but accessibility might be challenging for those with physical impairments.
Dining
6.0
While dining wasn't provided on-site, the nearby Sainsbury's offered a suitable alternative for meals. The advertised breakfast option was missing, causing a slight inconvenience for guests.
Facilities
6.0
The property did not offer extensive facilities, but the clean and modern bathroom facilities contributed to a comfortable stay. The absence of dining services might require guests to seek meals outside the hotel.

The hotel is centrally located, making it convenient for exploring Halifax and near the main retail shopping centers. The rooms, dating back to the 1960s, were clean and comfortable, ideal for a short stay, although some rooms may have limited head space due to attic layout. The service was excellent, with attentive staff who even provided helpful tips despite a possible poor WiFi signal. The hotel's dining options were decent, but breakfast was not included in some cases. Overall, a great value for money choice with a few minor drawbacks.
